Morgan Bowles was named Preferred Man last week after a week of competitions for FCCLA. Carson Hadley was named 1st attendant, and Dante Lowe was 2nd attendant.

Preference is a long-going tradition at NS that the Family Career and Community Leaders of America (also known as FCCLA) have been sponsoring and putting together for years. It is their opportunity to raise funds for competitions and other activities throughout the year.

“The student body nominates boys they think are the most preferred, and then the boys compete throughout the week,” said FCCLA advisor Auralee Brooks.

This year, the school nominated six senior boys, Morgan Bowles, Dante Lowe, Carson Hadley, Hunter Price, Duncan Hendry, and Andrew Mower.

“I talk to a lot of people, I think I’m nice to a lot of people, I’m just easy to be friends with,” said senior Andrew Mower.

Mower explained that he felt he was nominated for the competition because he talks to many people and is an easy person to be around. He also explained that it was a bit stressful doing the different activities, but he still enjoyed participating.

“This year, they are going to be decorating cookies, they’re going to learn a dance and perform that dance at the assembly, and then they are taking home the robot babies,” Brooks said.

Throughout this last week, the boys competed in some fun little challenges. They decorated some cookies after school in whatever way they wanted them. Some of them were decorated with a Christmas theme. After the cookies were completely frosted, the boys had to try and sell them during lunch as another activity. They then learned a dance choreographed by the dance sterling scholar Jordan Hilton. Also, on one of the nights, they took home the robotic babies to take care of overnight. Lastly, at the end of the week, there was an assembly where the boys were escorted out onto the stage and then had to perform the dance they learned a few days ago. Following the week, there was the official dance.

“This dance is going to be Out of This World themed,” said President of FCCLA Hope Shelley.

The dance was on Saturday, Nov. 20th. The theme included many stars, lights, and decorations to create an “Out of this World” look. It was a semi-formal, girls’ choice dance, about two and a half hours long. Again, the six boys were escorted out, and it was announced who was the most preferred man.

Overall the week was an entertaining continuation of the FCCLA tradition, and NS students all learned some fun things about some of their favorite senior boys.
