The NS student body and class officers for the 2024-25 school year have been revealed after their election. The student body officer election happened on May 3 and class officer elections were held on Monday, May 13. Student body officer inaugurations were held on May 6.

The student body officers for next year go as follows: Brandt Lund, president; Alivia Madsen, vice president; Jackson Dimmick, secretary; Gracie Larson, activity agent; Angela Vasquez, media specialist.

The freshman class officers go as follows: Sydney Braithwaite, president; Zoe Evans, vice president; Skylee Millet, secretary; Abby Hightower, media specialist.

The sophomore class officers go as follows: Janey Mitchell, president; Reagan Anderson, vice president; Aibree Allen, secretary; Benjamin Reyes, media specialist.

The junior class officers go as follows: Tayden Dyches, president; Ellie Finlinson, vice president; Emma Evans, secretary; Sage Ivory, media specialist; Emma Wallace, prom rep.

The senior class officers go as follows; Krew King, president; Brecklyn Thompson, vice president; Brooklyn Larson, secretary.

The diversity council goes as follows: Jasmin Canales, president; Luke Mower, vice president; Roxanna Tenorio, secretary.

“I was really excited and happy that I was able to win,” sophomore and next year’s junior president Tayden Dyches said, “I hope that I can do a good job there.”

Class and student body officers have many responsibilities with the school and their respective classes. They’re the representatives of each of their classes and the school.

“I think it’s gonna be a good year,” junior and next year’s senior president Krew King said. “I’m gonna do my best, y’know?”

It’s important for everyone to feel represented by their officers, and the elections that were held help that happen.

“I just feel like I want to do the best I can do to make sure that people feel good,” junior and next year’s student body president Brandt Lund said.

Each class officer has different goals and ideas.

“I just want to make sure everyone has a good year,” King said. “[I want to] really help the incoming freshmen and the underclassmen. I know that helped me when I was first coming to high school.”

School unity has been a big priority in recent years and some officers are very determined to help with it too.

“There are a lot of judging and acceptance issues,” Dyches said. “I feel like I’d like to bring our class together and build some school spirit. I feel like a lot of the kids don’t come to the events or they’re afraid to participate in school activities.”

The many school activities and extracurricular activities seem very separate sometimes, but Lund is planning to work against that.

“I know that connection is such a big part of school for me,” Lund said. “If everyone just changed their mind on it a little it would take so many problems and it would allow everyone to just feel wanted and welcomed.”

Each class presidency is a team and it’s vital that they work together well. Previous classes have worked together well, and next year’s officers don’t think that it will be an issue.

“I’m pretty excited [about the other officers],” King said, “I know they’re hard workers and I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be a really good year with them.”

A few of the officers have been in school leadership positions before, while some are new.

“There are a couple of them that have been in the past presidencies and then a couple new ones,” Dyches said, “but I feel like they all bring really good skills to the team and I think they all deserve to be in there.”

Student body and class officers do a lot for NS, and next year’s students have the capacity to do a lot of good.

“I’m excited to be able to serve the school,” Dyches said, “and help out wherever I can.”
