Disney is known for making amazing, uplifting movies. Most are good, but their most recent film, “A Wrinkle in Time,” did not meet the standards for a quality Disney movie.

Throughout “A Wrinkle in Time,” plenty of uplifting words were said, but they did not make up for the lack of action and exciting content.

Overall the movie was boring and hard to follow. When you are in a movie theater, you should not be asking when the movie will be over, but that is precisely what happened. The film did have a good moral and good intentions, but it was not all that it was cut out to be. After watching the trailer you were expecting to see a action filled, intriguing, out of this world film but we got a boring, slow and, well, it didn’t seem like something Disney would have made.

One of the three main characters, Calvin (played by Levi Miller,) did not have any reason to be in this movie. All he did was follow the other two around and give a few encouraging words.

The youngest character Charles Wallis (played by Deric McCabe,) was probably the most interesting character in the movie. He has the most character development and personality. Charles Wallis was a young boy who had no fear and had high hopes that all things would go well.

The main character Meg (played by Storm Reid,) was a boring and plain character with a lot of insecurities that made her character hard to follow.

This movie had some good parts, such as when Charles Wallis was overtaken by the darkness, but that was the only actually interesting part. There are tons of inspirational quotes, but the characters just didn’t seem to be connecting with each other, and were almost awkward around each other. It seemed as though the movie producers tried to cover up the bland storyline with unique, colorful outfits.

When the three magical women Mrs. Whatsit (played by Reese Witherspoon), Mrs.Which (played by Oprah Winfrey) and Mrs.Who (played by Mindy Kaling) came into play the story became slightly more interesting. The three taught Meg how to tesser, or travel through time with only the power of light. The three women tried to help the children find their father, but when they found out where their father was, they were not able to help save him. The only person who could save him was his daughter.

The three women had plenty of inspiration to give the children, but in the end, it came down to Meg to defeat the darkness. She was the only one capable of doing so because of her love, and in the end, she was able to defeat the darkness. The main moral of this story was simple: light overpowers all, and the key to finding that light in you is to have unconditional love for someone.
