On Sunday junior Brinley Bailey passed away from injuries sustained on her motorcycle the previous day. On Monday, students at NS wore blue ribbons and clothing, Brinley’s favorite color, in her honor.

Bailey’s influence on other students was clear in the response from her peers. She was known for her infectious smile and constant kindness.

Bailey was a part of the school tennis team. The team has discussed many ways to honor Bailey in the future.

Bailey was also a part of the yearbook class.

“I really only knew her as my student, but she impacted my life in so many ways,” business teacher Layne Cook said.

Alongside her teachers, Bailey also influenced Matt Braithwaite, girls tennis team coach.

“She didn’t necessarily need the attention from her peers to feel good and help people,” Braithwaite said, “she was genuinely just a good kid.”

Bailey also influenced students at NS, even if they didn’t know her.

“Some people didn’t know her by name but when they saw her picture they said something like, ‘oh she’s the kid who helped me with something,’ something as simple as that made such a big change,” Braithwait said.

With all the memories and lessons Bailey leaves behind for her peers and the people in her community, she will always be missed and remembered.
