The year 2018 is finally here, and with it comes a slew of brand new movies to be excited for. There’s movies ranging from stop-motion cavemen, all the way to interstellar smugglers.

The film focuses on a caveman named Dug (played by Eddie Redmayne) and his tribe of cave people who must unite against a mighty enemy — the Bronze Age. “Early Man” will be released on Feb. 16.
The next anticipated movie coming out in February is “Black Panther,” a Marvel superhero movie. “Black Panther” focuses on T’Challa (played by Chadwick Boseman), king of the African nation Wakanda, but he’s also the current Black Panther, a guardian of everything that represents Wakanda. Coming in March, “A Wrinkle In Time” is Disney’s take on a popular book from the 1960s. “A Wrinkle In Time” sees Meg Murry (played by Storm Reid) trying to find her scientist father (played by Chris Pine), who disappeared after he discovered a new planet and tried to travel there using strange technology, getting trapped on the planet in the process. On Meg’s journey, she is guided by three astral beings known as Mrs. Whatsit (Played by Reese Whitherspoon), Mrs. Which (Played by Oprah Winfrey), and Mrs. Who (Played by Mindy Kaling). “A Wrinkle In Time” will be released on March 9. Also in March, “Isle of Dogs,” the stop-motion film based on a book of the same name, will be released to the excitement of the movie going crowd. The film is directed by Wes Anderson, who is known for his work on “Fantastic Mr. Fox” and “Moonrise Kingdom.” Starring the voice talents of Bill Murray, Jeff Goldblum, Bryan Cranston, and more, “Isle of Dogs” is set in the future where an outbreak of canine flu convinces the mayor of a Japanese city to banish all dogs to an island that’s a garbage dump. The thing that sets the plot into motion is a twelve year old boy who goes to the island to find his dog. “Isle of Dogs” will be released on March 23.
Lastly, there is a bit of an odd situation in the form of “Solo,” the Han Solo movie set in the Star Wars universe. The movie stars Han Solo (played by Alden Ehrenreich), where he is accompanied by Chewbacca (played by Joonas Suotamo) as well as ‘Lando Calrissian’ (played by Donald Glover), almost nothing is known about the story of the film at the moment, however it does seem that Cloud City from “Empire Strikes Back” will play a role in the story of this movie. “Solo” is set to release May 25 of this year, however, we haven’t seen a single thing of this movie, making many question what’s going on behind the scenes over at Disney, theorizing that the movie may be in danger of being delayed, or worse, cancelled all together. No official word has surfaced about what’s going on with the movie, so no one knows for certain what will happen.
That’s a summary of just a few of the movies coming out this year, and it can certainly be said that Hollywood’s got quite the lineup for fans of all movies.
