She lives among us. Is she human? Is she a superhero? Nobody really knows.

Jordan Henson, sophomore at NS is a member of the drill team
Henson was born in Japan, and was raised in Fountain Green, Utah. She has three brothers and is not the only female child her in family.

Henson joined Drill for many reasons.
“When I was a little girl, I loved to dance, and I thought throughout high school I could still be a dancer by doing Drill team,” Henson said.

Henson has been dancing with many of the drill team member for years Such as junior, Olivia Hanson,
“We have been dancing together for almost 6 years.” Hanson commented.

Henson started dancing here in Utah and has loved every moment of it. She danced for the “Just Dance” company

The reason Henson started dancing was the love to be in front of people.

One aspect of drill team that Henson loves, is the fact that it isn’t just an individual effort. She knows she can’t do it alone.

“I feel like everyone makes a contribution to the team, because you can’t win with only one person,” Henson said. “you all need to work together.”

Drill team member, Kailee Burgess, sophomore, agrees with her, “Well yeah we can’t all do it alone.” she said.

Burgess feels like Henson, along with many have grown while being a member on the drill team.

“I feel like we have all sort of grown, if that makes sense,” Burgess said.
Henson’s cousin, Garrett Christensen feels the same way, “Yeah, I guess, I only see her at family gatherings,” he commented.

“I’m just glad she hasn’t quit.” Drill team member, Madison Johnson said.

Alongside being a member of the team Henson is also involved in many other activities such as beauty pageants.

“I got into it kind of the same reason as dance, I like dressing up, going in front of people, and helping out the community,” Henson said

Before state drill, Henson didn’t lose faith in her team.

“If we just do our best, have fun, and go out feeling confident, then that’s the best that we can ever do,” Henson said.

But being on the drill team isn’t without its sacrifices. The girls have practice every morning at 5 a.m.

“Sometimes we all have our days when we are tired,” she said. “Those are the days we don’t try as hard.”

Henson says that the reason she got into drill team is because, her aunt and her mother, while growing up in Germany did drill team.

Her Aunt took 2nd place in all of Germany, so that has inspired her to reach those limits and to surpass them.

With Drill being an all year sport she feels as if it has given her a lot of stress, “Just like any sport, but since Drill is an all year sport, you know.”
So with Drill, beauty pageants, and getting a 4.0 GPA, Henson has had a lot on her plate, but yet she manages to keep all together.
