Imprisoned: Part 3

The next few days were mostly a blur. My head was constantly spinning and pounding–I just wanted to lay down and die. I recalled many voices discussing my fate like I was some kind of object. Eventually, a man walked up to me and injected me with some kind of serum that dulled the pain until the world slipped away into darkness.

I sat alone in the darkness for a while until a green glow appeared in front of me. It was about the size of a baseball, but it’s presence seemed almost godlike. It pulsed as it spoke to me. “You might not know it yet, but you’ve got a purpose far greater than anyone else in this pathetic facility,” it said. Its voice was silky smooth and calmed my nerves in an instant. “You’ll see soon. I’m sure we’re going to be really good friends when we meet,” it said.

I felt the most serene feeling wash over me, a calm I hadn’t felt for so long. I yearned for the green glow to stay but it began to fade. I cried out into the darkness for it to return but no sound was heard.

I awoke in a prison with two soldiers looming over me.

“Good. He’s alive. The commander will be pleased,” he said breathing a sigh of relief. They unlocked the cell and strolled out, leaving me alone to think.

My life had crumbled right before my eyes in a matter of minutes. All I wanted was to go home and live a normal life. I wanted to scream but I hurt so much that I didn’t dare.

Before I could do anything something moved in the corner of my cell. I saw a head and shoulders emerging from the shadow. I screamed for help, hoping someone would hear my pleas. Arms reached out and grasped the floor and pulled the rest of the body through revealing the intimidating frame of the masked man. I continued my calls but no one came.

Panic raced through my body as I scurried to the opposite side of the cell.

“Leave me alone! I don’t have what you want! Please!” I pleaded.

“Now that’s where you’re wrong! I’ve finally cracked the code! You don’t just have the location of the catalyst–you are the catalyst!” he cackled, “All I have to do is bring it out of you!”

He rushed over to me and began to kick me repeatedly with no mercy. He seemed to delight in my pain. I started to glow with the same green energy that I had witnessed in the darkness. The peace and serenity overcame me once more–all the pain I had felt disappeared.

“Finally! It’s happening! I’ve won!” he shrieked with delight.
I rose up off the floor and punched his masked face with power flowing through me. I heard a crack, and the mask fell into two pieces on the ground. He went flying from the force of the punch, and smashed into the wall, breaking through it. I heard the familiar soothing voice again.

“Let us bring you to a better place.”
