Staying hydrated is important for everyone, including NS students. A study done in the US discovered that drinking water helps improve memory and can help focus attention.

With this in mind, Assistant Principal Jeff Erickson signed NS up for a new and improved water hydration station that will be located next to the counseling center.

“It’s quite simple really,” Ericksen said, “I got an email from the superintendent, that he received from an organization that does fountains and water hydration stations.”

From there, all Ericksen had to do was set up a donation website and write North Sanpete on it.

The campaign is through the Tap Water Watch company. So far the school has collected $20, with one donor, Jessica Clare.

“I don’t want to compete with Sub for Santa right now,” Erickson said.

Instead of asking for donations, the plan is to post a link on Facebook and send out an email asking others to donate.

Hopefully, students will be willing to donate to improve this fountain, which was voted the second-best by 23.3 percent of students.

While most people think all water tastes the same, students at NS beg to differ.

The best overall fountain is the one between the office and the library, with 43 percent agreeing it deserves first place.

The third best fountain was agreed to be the hydro-station located in the Commons, with 11.9 percent of the votes.

However, the fountain by the library is not the coldest, 39.9 percent of the student body believe the fountain by the counseling center has the coldest water.

When putting in a new fountain, the biggest concern among students seemed to be whether or not it would stay the same temperature.

There should be no reason the temperature should change; they are not replacing the water itself. Hopefully realizing this, the students will be willing to donate.

Please donate to https://tapwaterwatch.com/campaigns/north-sanpete-high-school/, to find out the future of your fountain.
