In the 3rd quarter NS found themselves falling even further behind getting only 6 points to Juan Diego’s 17, bringing the score to, 22-40. “They were pressing us really hard, and we panicked,” said Jentry Ison.

Despite the score, Griffith felt like the girls showed up and played.

“We came out really strong and played well but they hit some really good shots,” she said. “We got frustrated with ourselves and it took intensity out of the game .”

As the Lady Hawks started the fourth quarter they were behind by 28 points, but that didn’t stop them from trying to win. The Lady Hawks fought back and were only behind by 7 points with 40 seconds left on the clock.

Even though NS wasn’t able to come back and win Coach Griffith was extremely proud of her team.

“We left everything on the court,” she said. “We did it too late, but I was proud of the effort they gave.”

As Coach Griffith looks back on the season she has mixed feelings.

“We expected and wanted more out of the season,” she said. “We had a lot of ups and downs and it was frustrating.”

Even though there was a lot of frustration through the season Griffith was still proud of her team.

“We got down in the last two games but we didn’t quit,” she said. “When you’re down that far it’s easy to quit but we didn’t.”

As the team looked back on the season their favorite game was against Payson.

“We didn’t have very good defense at the beginning of the season,” said Ison. “That’s when we started playing as a team.” NS beat their former region foes 37-25.

“I played my best during that game and it was fun to see us come together as a team,” said Lexie Olsen.
