NS Idol was a time for us to get together as a school and enjoy the talents shown by our peers. Though many may find it nerve-racking to stand in front of their peers and show their talents, we had many students brave enough to go up and do just that.

Junior Ellie Anderson decided that NS Idol was her chance to show her talent and do what she loves: performing.

“Whenever I’m on stage, I tend to get kind of an adrenaline rush,” Anderson said.

Not only does Anderson sing, but she also enjoys being on stage and acting, due to that rush, and the opportunity to portray a different character.

“It’s like playing a part but being yourself mashed up into one,” Anderson and.

NS Idol isn’t the only time she has been able to show her talents, she has sung, beat-boxed and rapped at talent shows before. She recently participated in the school musical “Little Shop of Horrors” as a Doo-Wop girl.

“I enjoy participating in drama at school. It’s a way for me to perform and I enjoy it,” Anderson said.

The school musical is something for everyone in our school and community to watch and enjoy as well. It is yet another way to bring us all together.

“I have been singing pretty much my whole life,” said Anderson. “My mom has a video of me singing at a family reunion in a cultural hall, and I wouldn’t let anyone take the mic away from me.”

As Anderson reminisces about the past with a smile on her face, anyone can tell that she truly has a passion for performing and showing her talents for her peers and community to see.
