With a sudden realization, the settling sense of horror overcomes him. He got the wrong oil. The horror settles deeper in the pit of his stomach when he realizes he might have to return it. He keeps driving. He confronts his mom nervously, hands her the oil, and runs to his room. She’ll have to return it later.
You wouldn’t expect an outgoing, friendly, and loud kid like Mason Bailey to have this irrational fear. But he does. “He’s mister macho, cocky, “look at me”, and then there’s the lady behind the counter, ready to take his order, and he just freezes,” said Mayzie Talbot, SBO and friend of Bailey’s.“My card is my lightsaber,” said Bailey, “I mean lifesaver, sorry.”
Beside this, Bailey is a really confident dude. “Mason makes it a little easier to be weird,” said Talbot. Sometimes though, especially in front of other people, he’s narcissistic. “I can get a little full of myself sometimes. I do look at myself in the mirror, but that’s to make sure my hair looks good.”
Bailey does like to brag, but there are some things that people don’t know about him. Bailey is colorblind, he has ADD, and his uncle Landon Bailey thinks he has OCD. “My ADD usually switches from focusing too much, to not focusing at all, and some people think it’s kind of sketchy.”
Despite these challenges, Bailey is a really smart guy. He has the highest score on the ACT in his class, and he’s kept a 3.9all throughout high school. He loves leadership positions, and sports, and stays involved always. “If I didn’t stay involved, I’d freak out,” Bailey said, “ I hate having nothing to do.”
His mom eventually returned from the store, and the Bailey household was filled with the yelling of his mother. Bailey was terrified, but not returning oil did have it’s consequences.
Bailey does know that he won’t be going to the store to return anything, no matter what.
